Dear Family of Beloved Friends:
Mom died sometime last night/this morning. I am in Berkeley. I am trying to arrange for a post-mortem examination (autopsy) and will be going to Monterey now. She is in the morgue now and I am told i will be able to see her to say my last goodbyes and to offer some Buddhist and Christian prayers. She was looking forward to a visit this morning from some of the Cambodian doctors and their families, who love and respect her.
I sincerely appreciate your support in these recent difficult months and weeks, days and hours.
Her final days were spent in gratitude for having had such a long life in which she felt so blessed. we often spoke about how lucky we were to have had each other for so many happy years, neither of us having died when we had the opportunity, she with cancer at age 60 and me in the tsunami of 2004. she was the best mother i can imagine, and always told me how proud she was of me trying to help people, as she had showed me by example. she was the personification of Kindness, an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
I hope Mom's now with Dad and her brothers and parents and all those who have passed on before, and knowing that she will always be in our hearts as a loving Angel,
with sadness and fond aloha, Daniel
